Dutchess County officials said on Tuesday, July 11 that the significant rainfall has impacted several roadways, primarily in the eastern portion of the county, including the towns of Pawling, Dover, Beekman, Union Vale, LaGrange, and East Fishkill.
"Please use extreme caution when traveling as some roadways may be unstable, undermined, or even washed out," they said.
If you come across a roadway covered by water, do not drive through, as the roadway may be unstable or non-existent, they added.
Transportation officials said local creeks and rivers have not yet crested, so it will take some time for water levels to recede and enable highway crews to make necessary repairs.
The Maybrook Line portion of the Empire State Trail has also been impacted with areas of pavement washed out in the area of East Greenhaven to Depot Hill Road.
